Release Train Engineer (RTE)
At New Agile Paradigm, we are dedicated to your success both in the classroom and in your career. Achieving an RTE certification can be pivotal for your career advancement, and we strive to ensure that you gain the full value of your investment through a deep understanding of the material. We believe that simply memorizing content for certification is a misuse of your time. Instead, our trainers and consultants focus on delivering applicable learning that enhances your knowledge, value, and prominence in the field.
A Release Train Engineer (RTE) is tasked with coordinating and guiding the activities of an Agile Release Train, which is essentially a combination of smaller agile teams working on the same solution. While the RTE's responsibilities and level of involvement can vary depending on the company and solution, certain core aspects are always present. One of the most impactful roles of an RTE is to facilitate PI Planning.
To effectively facilitate PI Planning, an RTE must follow several key steps:
Creating a Prioritized List of Features: The RTE compiles a list of features to be included in the planning process. This step can differ significantly if it is the company's first PI Planning session. Each organization's initial PI Planning involves unique steps and variations, so if you need assistance with this, please reach out to us to connect with one of our consultants.
Preparation: The prioritized list of features is provided to each team two weeks before the planning session to allow adequate preparation.
Post-Planning Instructions: Once PI Planning is finalized, the RTE prepares detailed and printed instructions for each team to follow.
Our approach ensures that you not only understand how to facilitate PI Planning effectively but also gain practical knowledge applicable to real-world scenarios. Should you have any questions or require assistance with your first PI Planning, feel free to contact us for expert guidance.
