SAFe Scrum Master (SSM)
The SAFe Scrum Master role is an adaptation of the traditional Scrum Master role, customized to address the needs of large-scale, multi-team agile environments. The SAFe Scrum Master role is instrumental in helping large organizations implement and sustain agile practices effectively. This role ensures that agile teams work in alignment with the organization's goals and are able to deliver value at scale.
The primary responsibilities of a SAFe Scrum Master include:
Coaching Agile Teams: Providing guidance and coaching to Agile teams, including helping them understand and apply agile principles and practices.
Scrum Master for the Agile Release Train (ART): Serving as the Scrum Master for an Agile Release Train (ART), which is a team of Agile teams working together to deliver value in a value stream. This involves facilitating Agile Release Train events, such as Program Increment (PI) Planning and Scrum of Scrums.
Facilitating Collaboration: Promoting collaboration and coordination among Agile teams and stakeholders, including addressing impediments and dependencies that affect the teams.
Continuous Improvement: Guiding the team and the ART in continuous improvement efforts, including inspecting and adapting their processes and practices.
Servant Leadership: Practicing servant leadership by supporting the development teams, Product Owners, and other stakeholders and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
