Safe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM)

In SAFe, the Scrum Master role is adapted and expanded to address the needs of large-scale, multi-team agile environments. The SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) is an advanced level of Scrum Master role, focused on facilitating and enabling the success of Agile Release Trains (ARTs). The ART is a key construct in SAFe, representing a team of Agile teams working together to deliver value in a value stream.

The SAFe Advanced Scrum Master's responsibilities may include:

Coaching: Helping Scrum Masters and teams improve their agile practices and agile mindset.

Facilitation: Facilitating events at the program and large solution level, such as PI Planning and Scrum of Scrums.

Collaboration: Collaborating with other Scrum Masters and stakeholders to address impediments and dependencies.

Continuous Improvement: Driving continuous improvement within the ART and helping teams improve their processes.

Servant Leadership: Practicing servant leadership by supporting the development teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

Change Agent: Helping the organization adopt and adapt to agile practices and principles.
